Color your allergy

I am no longer doing color your allergy, unless I get feedback you you really love it.  I am labeling recipes in a different way.  Color your allergy is still available on older recipes.

Color your allergy is a simple way I have created to navigate the recipes in my website.  Now remember these colors are based on the mixes and brands I use.  Always read the label of the products you are buying to make sure it does not have any of the foods you are allergic.  Look below and find your color some people are multiple colors.  When your go trough the website look for the color and find recipes that work for your family.  Best of luck and remember these are only suggestions. Always make sure the recipe and products do not contain an allergen. The allergies I have listed are just the most common, I know many of you have other allergies.  However this coding should make it easier for many of you. And remember the Healthy Mom basic is to always stay away from as many pesticides and preservatives as possible. Enjoy and Eat Healthy.

Artichoke Crab Soup

12 ounces of fresh lump crab meat 1/4 cup organic butter 1/4 cup unbleached organic flour 2 cups organic milk 1 1/2 cup organic half and half 1 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese 14 oz. artichoke bottoms chopped 1/4 teaspoon white pepper 2 tablespoon white wine I know this is not a healthy soup.  It definitely has a lot of fat.  But think of it a special treat once in a while a treat is ok.  And this soup is really good.   Directions: Melt butter in a sauce pan over low heat.  Add flour and stir until smooth.  Stir constantly until slightly golden. Slowly stir in milk and half and half.  Add cheese.  continue to stir while cooking over medium heat until thickened.  Add artichokes, crab, white wine and white pepper.  Simmer a couple of minutes and serve hot.   Enjoy this wonderful soup. Rice! Is it in your pantry?

Uncle Ben's is having a contest right now which is my inspiration for my article on rice.   Ben’s Beginners  Cooking Contest  you could win $20,000, along with a $50,000 grant Rice is a huge part of my families meals.  My Husband is from Cuba so rice is his potato.  We use rice as a side or part of a side almost every night.  Rice is always the go to when my kids are not feeling well.  And since my part of the family is Italian I grew up eating rice for breakfast.  My kids are a huge part of our cooking,  They love to be in the kitchen with aprons on and spoons in hand.  In fact my 12 year old is currently telling what her favorite things are with rice.  She listed Rice and Beans (a cuban staple), chunky soups with rice and she mentioned my previous, when she is sick.   Our cuban staple of rice and beans is so easy, full of flavor and the kids get a great source of protein.  Aunt Gladys' Cuban black Beans are su...
