Kansas City Star Article

Check out junkfoodkids in the kansas city star.  It was a very fun afternoon.  We really enjoyed being interviewed by the Newspaper.  It was so nice of them to think of us and they featured one of my recipes.

Cuban Steaks

1 lb. Hormone and antibiotic free thin cut steaks
1/4 organic sweet onion
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp organic lemon juice
Salt grinder
pepper grinder

Directions: Your steaks should be cut breakfast steak thickness. I like to have them cut a rump roast for my steaks. I have the butcher cut my steaks so they come out even and saves me time. Take each steak and sprinkle with salt and pepper then pound with a meat tenderizer. Turn steak over and repeat.  Complete this process with each steak.
Heat olive oil in a skillet until hot,  place steaks one at a time in the skillet and brown both sides.  When this is complete remove steaks and place on a plate together.  Add thin sliced onions to skillet and sauté when they are almost cooked through add lemon juice sauté one more minute and pour liquid and onions over steaks and serve.  This dish goes great with Aunt Gladys' Black Beans.

I Have A Problem

I am writing something other than a recipe today.  Because I wanted to let my readers know about my problem.  The pictures I post, most of the time are my own of the food I make. I try to post something I have recently made at home so, I can give my readers a fresh picture of my food.  So the dishes you see are my dishes.  I have two small sets that I have mixed together. After many years of being married, my dishes from when we got married are very few.  So when we made this last move I bought some dishes that were inexpensive but I really liked.  However these dishes get hot when I reheat food in the microwave.  So last year my mother-in-law gave me a nice gift card for my birthday to a department store.  So I used that to buy a really nice set of dishes.  They are supposed to be microwave and dishwasher safe. One day warming a piece of pizza in the microwave I hear a pop.  I open the microwave and the dish has cracked all th...
